It's clearly worth it if:

  • You play fast, reaction-driven games and want a real competitive and comfort edge.
  • Your GPU can already push well beyond 60 FPS in the games you actually play.

  • Your current GPU already struggles to hold 60 FPS. Fix the frame source first, or the monitor is wasted potential.

  • You're eyeing 4K 144Hz without the GPU muscle to feed it. A 1440p or 1080p high-refresh panel will feel far better for the money.

One caveat from experience: the upgrade is a bit of a one-way door. After a few weeks on 144Hz, going back to a 60Hz screen feels sluggish and slightly blurry in a way you never noticed before. That's not marketing, it's genuine perceptual adaptation, and it's worth knowing you'll probably want every screen you own to match afterward.
